Michael Saltzstein | Social Media Trends to Take Advantage of in 2019

The internet has brought us one of the most powerful information-sharing tools in the form of social media. As such, a successful marketer today, Michael Saltzstein stresses, is one who knows how to leverage social media’s many strengths in their marketing campaigns.

Social media technologies allow for the creation of virtual networks and communities, making the dissemination of information to hundreds, thousands, even millions of people possible with the click of a button. And with new trends cropping up, we can expect social media to play an even bigger role in marketing, as we can see below.

Social media platforms are a hit with the young and old

Facebook remains the most widely used of the many networking services available. According to Michael Saltzstein, recent data has revealed that around 4 out of 10 Facebook users are over 65. This makes it a great platform of choice if your campaign is targeting a senior market.

While younger people still flock to Facebook in droves, there are other services marketers can focus their marketing efforts on. For instance, Instagram has become increasingly popular with people under 30 – a fact any marketer worth their salt shouldn’t ignore. Michael Saltzstein also states that over 73% of Americans tune in to YouTube, making it an excellent choice for video digital marketing efforts. In addition, live streaming has grown ubiquitous these days, so we can also count streaming services such as Twitch as valuable avenues for digital marketing.

The rise of influencers

As influencers are popular social media-savvy celebrities whose opinions can affect the attitudes of their followers, they can convey your brand’s message to extremely large audiences. And with these influencers’ rise in prominence, social media has become even more indispensible as a means of generating interest in anything, from the latest blockbuster film to the snazziest gadget on the market.

Take, for example, the YouTuber PewDiePie. His subscriber count currently sits at a whopping 85 million. By partnering with such a well-known persona, you could potentially turn their millions of viewers into millions of customers.

Your choice of influencer, target market, and product should of course match, advises Michael Saltzstein. So, if your company is selling video game peripherals, it’s best to work with an influencer known for their gaming content. Health products would be best promoted by health gurus, beauty products by beauty experts, and so on.

Artificial intelligence

Artificial intelligence can use social media platforms to analyze the behavior and search patterns of consumers, which in turn allows marketers to know their market better.

Artificially intelligent chatbots can also use social messaging apps, such as Facebook Messenger, to communicate with customers. Not only do these chatbots automate and enhance customer service, they can also provide information about your brand that customers will find valuable.

According Michael Saltzstein, recent studies have shown the use of chatbot technology in customer service will increase to 25% in 2020 from 2% in 2017. It therefore makes sense to take advantage of this technology as early as now.
